pnPhotoNaturalist. This is a blog on nature photography that I started in February of 2009. It currently has over 5,000 subscribed readers and has been recognized by Guy Kawasaki and Outdoor Photographer Magazine. I’ve promoted it entirely through guest blogging on other larger photography blogs (like Digital Photography School), social networking, and SEO.

chaparro Chaparro Publishing. This is a small publishing company that I started to self-publish my own books, and eventually help other people to self-publish their own work. The Internet is making it easier and easier for people to find their own audiences through blogging and social networking, so I think the need for large publishing companies is diminishing.

The Harvey Project The Harvey Project (PDF). This is the semester report I wrote for an independent research project I started in my freshman year of undergrad. The goal of the project was to create an intelligent bot that would talk to people on AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), without the person realizing they were actually talking to a computer. At the height of the project, there were about five people involved, and although we did a ton of research and planning, we never finished the project (it turned out to be a little more difficult than we originally thought!). I kept doing independent research on Artificial Intelligence (AI) until I graduated, but then got more interested in Artificial Life and genetic algorithms.

More coming soon!

I’m about to start a few software related projects that I’m really excited about, but I don’t have any websites up yet, so until then, I’ll keep them off this list!
